The department »Satellite-based Positioning Systems« focuses on the development of receiver components and systems for satellite-based localization using Global Navigation Satellite Systems – GNSS, i.e. GPS or Galileo and their upcoming improvements. Based on these receiver technologies we develop innovative solutions and support the industry to bring new products to the market. These new products help forward the energy transition as innovations such as a better positioning solution could potentially aid the sustainable forestry or the development of new kinds of mobility solutions.
What you will do
Our department addresses different applications and new potential products, even in niche markets. You will contribute to the definition of system requirements, including feedback on limitations and feasibility and carrying out engineering activities to ensure the application meets our customers’ standards. You will develop embedded system software for next generation satellite navigation receivers, design and implement real-time embedded software solutions that meet the system requirements and will be part of the technology solutions for the upcoming transformation of society.

What you bring to the table

• Degree in an engineering or computer science, medical science, mathematics or comparable education
• Good expertise in programming in C/C++ and Python
• Knowledge of embedded systems, especially Linux-based is advantageous
• Interest in localization, digital signal processing, satellite navigation area, cryptography, VHDL
• Know-how in aspects of software engineering, from requirements definition to system architecture, implementation and testing is advantageous
• EU citizenship facilitates involvement in all types of projects
• Good communication skills in English, German is a plus

The position is initially limited to 2 years with the aim to extend it subsequently. The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position can also be filled on a part-time basis with a preference, however, to have it filled as close to a full-time position as possible.
