Software Engineering Internship / Working Student at a Space Startup

We are Vyoma, a NewSpace startup that will launch a satellite constellation to observe space debris from space for the provision of space safety data and services. Our first satellite launch is scheduled for mid 2024.

We are looking for an intern (preferably for 6 months) or working student (2 days a week) that supports us on the development of our platform and our data pipelines. You will immediately start working on important topics alongside our software engineers and astrodynamics specialists:

  • Development of services using a Java/Spring/AWS technology stack

  • Supporting our astrodynamics colleagues to integrate their algorithms into our platform.

  • Performance optimizations of astrodynamics algorithms.

  • The correctness and reliability of our software is very important: You also will have to write tests.

If you are interested you can also contribute and learn on the following fields:

  • Frontend development using the Vue.js framework.

  • Infrastructure operations using AWS/Kubernetes stack

Your Profile

We are looking for a student with software engineering and programming knowledge (e.g. basic Python and Java knowledge). So it would be good if you already have attended courses about algorithms and data structures, distributed systems or databases.

Our technology stack:

  • Java (SpringBoot)

  • JUnit, Testcontainers for testing

  • Python as a secondary language for some services.

  • Docker for virtualization

  • Apache Kafka for event streaming

  • Kubernetes / AWS as Infrastructure

  • GIT/Gitlab for version control

  • Vue.js for the frontend

About us

Vyoma is on a mission to solve one of the big issues humanity faces today: the problem of space debris threatening active satellites in orbit. We are building a fleet of space cameras to monitor such space debris. Together with our software suite, we build an accurate catalogue of space objects, automate satellite operations for our customers, and ultimately keep our orbits clean and safe. We are a young and international team of aerospace engineers and software developers, backed by some of the top investors and venture capitalists in Germany.
