Summary: This thesis analyses the software development processes of the highly successful TikiWiki CMS/Groupware open source project, in which everyone who shows up is trusted and can contrib­ute without restrictions.

Problem: Software development is supposed to be an orderly process. Yet, there are many highly successful open source projects who defy traditional wisdom and appear as chaotic to the casual observer. One example is the TikiWiki project, a widely deployed open source software, see http://tikiwiki.org. Anyone who shows up can contribute code; there are no code contribution restrictions, no access rights limits to overcome. Yet, TikiWiki is highly successful by most measures. How come?
